Retirement Counseling

A Retirement Counseling session is a chance to sit down with the ERS, one-on-one, and get personalized guidance based on your specific situation. No two sessions are the same, since each one is tailored to your needs.

During a session, you can expect:

  • Assistance completing ERS paperwork
  • Detailed explanations of the retirement options available to you
  • Free Notary Public service for completing your retirement application
  • Answers to your retirement questions
  • Guidance through the retirement process, start to finish

This applies whether you’re a member of Plan B, Plan C, or Plan E. Our guidance during this session is limited to your ERS benefits and options.

Scheduling a session is easy: simply email us at contactERS@mncppc.org, give us a call at (301) 454-1415, reach out through Member Direct, or contact ERS any other way that’s convenient. Sessions can take place in person, over a Teams call, or by phone, depending on what works best. Walk-ins are always welcome, though scheduling ahead makes it easier to prepare for individual needs.

It’s a good idea to check in with ERS throughout your career, not just as retirement approaches, and to schedule a session at least 6 months before a planned retirement date. There’s no limit on how many times someone can come back, and sessions are always tailored to what’s needed at the time. While not required, these sessions are highly recommended, and spouses, advisors, or anyone else are always welcome to join.
